Apr. 2. 1997 -- Nomura Research Institute (NRI) and DigiCash today announced that NRI will be the first company in Japan to license ecash technology for the development of an electronic money payment system. NRI will use ecash, denominated in Japanese yen, for a unique intranet based system that will allow NRI employees, departments, and associated companies to exchange value in real time, without the need for smart cards, paper, or complex systems.

Apr. 14. 1997 -- Today, DigiCash bv announced that Den norske Bank and Bank Austria the largest banks in Norway and Austria, respectively will be the first banks in their countries to issue ecash, DigiCash's electronic cash for use over the Internet. Using only a PC connected to the Internet, the banks clients will be able to pay for a wide range of products and services, including database searches, mail-order products, stock quotes, news, entertainment, and software.

Apr. 17.-19. 1997 -- DORS, the Days of Open Computer Systems were held on Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing with many interesting lectures about security and importance of electronic payment.

Jun 19. 1997 -- Advance Bank customers are amongst the first in the Asia-Pacific region to have access to ecash - an electronic payment system for the Internet. Customers can purchase ecash using version 6.0 of the Internet Banking program, which is available for free download from the Advance ecash web site.

August 1997 -- In August of this year, Visa announced an alliance with San Francisco-based Worlds Inc. to develop three-dimensional, virtual banking and retailing applications delivered via the Internet. Virtual branches will also be bank-branded and designed to the specifications of each member financial institution.

Transaction is done on CARNet booth on INFO'97 - 29. international information technology fair, within project Electronic payment, using HrOpen secure server. Ministry of science and tehnology of the Republic of Croatia and Diners Club Adriatic also took participation in project.
